Bridges are important structures that support the safe and comfortable movement of people, vehicles, railroads, and lifelines. We plan and design bridges that are economical, maintainable, and earthquake resistant and that take into account the local environment and future needs. Bridges are prone to a wide variety of damage and require a plan to extend their service life through periodic inspection and repair. In particular, older bridges require reinforcement of load-bearing capacity and seismic reinforcement based on changes in the traffic environment and lessons learned from earthquakes. We offer long-term safety assurance and seismic reinforcement.
We select and design the most appropriate construction methods for all types of bridges, including road bridges and pedestrian bridges, from preliminary to detailed design.
Based on our expertise in seismic reinforcement design gained from our extensive experience, we provide seismic reinforcement design for bridges that require protection against large earthquakes.
Bridges are a key component of the road stock and since they were built rapidly and in large numbers during the period of high economic growth, they are aging noticeably. We assist in developing plans for repair and maintenance to extend the service life of bridges.
Bridges that have been in use for a long time need to be inspected and thoroughly surveyed for maintaining their functionality. Repair measures must be taken for damage that needs to be addressed. In addition, there are many bridges that require reinforcement of floor slabs, bridge concatenation, widening, or reconstruction to improve functionality. We have a wealth of expertise in bridge preservation, and we select the most appropriate repair/reinforcement method and perform a detailed design.
Since there is a wide variety of both stakeholders and clients, it is necessary to communicate project-related and other information accurately and clearly to reach consensus in a timely manner. This is where we actively use simulation and virtual experience with BIM/CIM models. We are also working on 4D, which visualizes the progress of construction in an easy-to-understand manner using a 3D model created at the design stage. In this way, DX is effectively utilized to ensure quality in design and to promote productivity and sophistication in the construction and maintenance phases.
